Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated in the United States of America and various other countries in the middle of February. The origin of the holiday is covered in mystery, but it has its roots in the Roman festival Lupercalia, and people did various rituals for fertility and the god Faunus who was the god of agriculture. After the rise of Christianity, the festival was outlawed and the Pope declared February 14th as St. Valentine's Day. There were multiple Christian martyrs named Valentine, so it is unclear who, exactly, the holiday is named for.
